Malaria is probably the most widespread of diseases in the tropics and is now once again appearing in the developed countries of the west. The World Health Assembly in its 31st session reported a resurgence of malaria in many countries. In the Philippines likewise it remains as one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality. It is the purpose of this paper to study the clinical features of malaria, to expose the pitfalls in diagnosis and to evaluate the effect of current antimalarial therapy.
